Brexit

Created with Sketch.

It feels like all we’ve been talking about for the last two years is Brexit, Brexit Brexit and yet the Government has failed to secure a deal that represents the best interests of our country.

Along with many of my colleagues and members of the party, I have come to the conclusion that the public should have a vote on the final Brexit deal. I led Labour’s efforts in City Hall calling for a vote on the final deal, which culminated in Mayor Sadiq Khan coming out strongly in favour of a 2nd referendum.

I was proud to march behind Mayor Sadiq Khan with thousands of Labour members and fellow Londoners to demand a people’s vote a few weeks ago. Brexit negotiations are taking us towards a future nobody voted for.
Over the last few weeks, we have all watched with dismay as the government’s Brexit chaos has unfolded. Nobody voted to be poorer and nobody voted for a no-deal scenario that will wreck our economy.

The clock is ticking. Residents know how bad the governments negotiations have been. Without a Labour government we are left with a bad deal, which could be so vague we leave the EU blind to what our future relationship will be, or a ‘no deal’ Brexit.

As your MP candidate I will be able lead an anti-Brexit campaign that is credible in the eyes of residents. A campaign that unites our community and is rooted in casework, public seminars and high profile media appearances.
